Look After You

I look out the window of my apartment and glance at the silohuette of the complex across the lawn. Most of my view is filled with the face but as I turn my head slightly, the east reveals its beauty. We are blessed to be in a place with such a community, with such interaction. But when we want to be alone, the environment is there as well. We can sit on the lawn and stare into the distance at the sunset behind Bishop's peak. We can embark on a short climb to the top of CP hill. We can head out to the beach and enjoy the breeze.

God is our creator, the one who has made such things possible. I would like to give Him the credit he deserves. Many times we look for him only in the face of distress. He wants to go beyond that. He yearns for the day to walk, talk, and eat with us. He wants to have a personal relationship with us. All because he first loved us.

I reread the Genesis account of creation today and was awed by the sheer power this guy has. He could choose otherwise. He could not love us. He could choose not to bless us richly with things we don't deserve. Yet He is merciful.

Thank you Lord.

May I have a loving and merciful heart too.

Hrm.

It is in serving others that we satisfy our desire to be productive...Christians find meaning in life through service. Jus as people find strength and motivation to exercise through gyms, we find motivation to serve God through others.

Just a thought...

Oh yea, here is an excellent song from Leehom. Catchy!

Look at the stars... Look how the shine for you...

(day dreams at work) ...

(a return to reality)

An Article in Money magazine verified my suspicions... money does make people happy...but only up to a certain extent. The money to happiness ratio is also exponentially curved like the graph of x^3. According to their survey, after a gross income point of $75,000 people will not experience the same amount of happiness if they were to receive another 10k. Its the law of diminishing marginal utility. For each additional hamburger you eat at one meal, the less the next one provides satisfaction. But that first one sure was good wasn't it!?

Indeed, people need to understand what money can, and can not purchase. It is the expectations about money that bring satisfaction and disappointment. Many men in their midlife crisis attempt to satisfy a need for 'ooomph' with a Beamer or a Porche...but that satisfaction quickly diminishes as the person gets used to that ooomph. Money is like that...we grow acclimated to that type of lifestyle if we keep living it and it no longer is as cherry and pretty as it seemed when we were poor.

Just a thought....

(continues daydream)

And it was all ...yellow....

*edit*

Songs I've been listening to lately:

Entertaining Angels - Newsboys
Joy - Newsboys
Existentialism on Prom Night - Straylight Run
Relient K
We Are Hungry - Chris Tomlin

And a few songs I heard on the radio:

Perfect - Simple Plan (Catchy...good to sing out loud to)
Breakaway - Kelly Clarkson (the mood it sets me in is so... full of emotion. I feel like I'm at Moonstone Beach near Cambria...running through the shallow tides and singing to the sunset...singing away my love for life...)
Dare You to Run - Switchfoot (Another beach song)

Anyone want to watch Better Luck Tomorrow? Oh man...so suburban....

Best,

Ivan
